Ireland chosen for commercial-scale wave-energy project

imagee/wave.jpg Swedish power utility Vattenfall and Irish wave-energy developer Wavebob announced on Monday plans to build a commercial-scale wave-energy project off the west coast of Ireland, says HydroWorld.com.

The two companies have formed a joint venture company, known as Tonn Energy, to conduct research and development near Belmullet, Mayo. The project is being backed by the government of Ireland. The level of investment was not disclosed.
